DEPARTMENT OF OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY
INTRODUCTION
The department has the main purpose of providing ear, nose and throat care to patients suffering from ailments affecting these areas. For these patients, the department provides diagnostic, medical and surgical management facilities. Apart from patient care the department is involved in medical education of undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is also involved in research activities through research projects and is involved in various academic activities such as holding workshops, courses and clinical meets.
The faculty is actively involved in patient care (Medical and surgical), national and international level conferences where the departmental activities can be showcased and new innovations can be learnt and applied in patients care.
SERVICES PROVIDED
The department offers almost all services available at a tertiary health care centre. This includes diagnostic services like Nasal endoscopy, Fibre-optic laryngoscopy, Videolaryngostroboscopy etc. apart from all OPD procedures and minor O.T. procedures. The department has a speech therapy facility and also runs neurotology, oncology and tympanoplasty clinics. The department offers all ear, nose and throat surgeries, along with unique facility for sialendoscopic procedures. The departmental services include undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Research activities in collaboration with other departments are a regular feature.
LOCATION
The outpatient department is housed in the 2nd floor (Room No. 236-244). The inpatient ward and seminar room is on fifth floor (Ward-25) in the hospital block. The departmental office is on the third floor close to the administrative offices of the Medical Superintendent (Room No. 352).
